CB Journal – One Month In and Dancing!
Wednesday, September 1, 2010 6:42So it has now been a month since I started the Master Cleanse Journal site, and I have now moved towards more aggressively backlinking the site. On Monday, twenty Blog Blueprint posts were published and yesterday I started an Unique Article Wizard Run that will continue over the next two months, at the rate of 15 submissions a day (ultimately going out to over 900 articles and directories). I am also continuing the Link Juicer submissions at a rate of three a day, and will also submit another three or four articles to EzineArticles over the next month and I am also going to start create some profile links as well for the site at a rate of 10/day.
As is normal when I start throwing more backlinks at a site, Master Cleanse Journal is now dancing. It is no longer on the first page, and a search turned it sitting in the mid 300′s in Google’s search results right now for the term “Master Cleanse Journal”. It’s hard to say how long it will stay there – but in general I find that these kinds of “dances” last anywhere between two days and a few weeks. It can always be a little stressful when this happens. You wonder when it’s coming back (or if it’s coming back), but only once have I had a site not returned stronger than before when this happens. That site incurred a six month penalty from Google (although now it is one of my best performers) – but that was probably because I threw a couple thousand links at it before it was even a couple weeks old. Still, it’s a good reason to have other sites in your portfolio – so that when one (or more) of your sites disappears for a few weeks, you don’t get too stressed out by it.
Unsurprisingly, the visitor count has now dropped off – I only had three visitors yesterday, and also three hops.
Unfortunately, I did not have any sales during the first month for the site. For the entire month, I had 156 hops for the Master Cleanse Secrets book plus another 13 hops for the raw foods book I am promoting. I’m guessing a large number of those hops came from people visiting from this site, so I don’t think this is an accurate reflection of true organic visitor searches. Once I have a 1000 hops or more, I should have a more accurate picture as to whether this product converts well enough or not.

Ah, the fun of backlinking and Google dancing!
At least your getting the dance out of the way before the site turns a profit. I’ve knocked of sites making money and that can really be scary – I’m sure you have also.

Yeah, it’s happened to me, and it’s loads of fun!
I do try to get the dancing out of the way early these days, but that can be hard. Still, I find that once my sites are hitting 9 months to a year in age, and the backlink diversity is already pretty strong, they don’t seem to dance anymore but just move upwards. This site is way too new, of course, and I’m just hoping those Blog Blueprint posts I sent it’s way doesn’t keep it in the Google abyss for too long!
