Weekly Update #5 (June 29-July 5)
Tuesday, July 6, 2010 8:41I have to admit that this week I was not expecting much in terms of earnings because of the long holiday weekend here in the United States. Thus it was a nice surprise to find out I earned nearly exactly the same this week as last – $212.47 (compared with $212.13 last week). Here is the breakdown of what I earned:
AdSense – $69.63 earned for a week. My daily average was at $9.95, which means I am slowly climbing back up to where I was pre-Mayday algorithm change.
ClickBank – CB is where I saw the best earnings, having eight sales (no refund) and earning $142.84 for the week. This is the second week in a row that I have averaged one sale a day or better. For a long time, one sale a day with CB has been a personal goal for me, and I hope the trend continues! Here is a screenshot of my sales for the past few weeks:
Amazon – I made one sale of an item for $160, which should result in a nice commission, but the item has not shipped yet so I’m not including it in this weeks totals.
Other Affiliate Sales – Nothing for this week to report.
Other IM Earnings – I thought I would mention that I just started a mentoring relationship with a junior internet marketer. I’m pretty excited about this opportunity. Although I am in no way an expert in internet marketing, I am realizing that I do have a lot to share both here on the blog and in terms of mentoring, and I am also learning a lot myself from this process. However, I will not be including this income in my weekly or monthly earnings report because it is a “active” and not “passive” source of income.
In terms of work weekly accomplishments, I finished up the remaining sites left from June and I am now doing keyword research for the ten sites I will be setting up in July.
One final note: I’ve decided to start doing my weekly earning reports on Wednesday starting next week. Mainly this is so that they will match the ClickBank weekly earnings reports and be less confusing to my readers. I’ll still be doing my “Free Tools Fridays” posts on Fridays though.

Very interesting numbers and good on you – you earn about as much in a week through Adsense as I do in half a month! And I don’t even have the benefits of clickbank on the side!

Way to go, Michelle! Here is to at least two sales per day from CB in the next months or so; with your great backlinking strategy and, I assume, even better initial keyword research, I’m sure this will happen sooner than you know.

Nice blog Michelle, and I see you’re having some real success on CB. Seems that the strategy you use works well for you so it might be worth scaling it to get to 100$ a day on CB alone

Hey Michelle, great job once again with your earnings. You are definitely an inspiration to inspring IM out there. I wish I could be your apprentice so I could learn from you one-on-one. Let me know if you have any slots available
Just curious, is your adsense earnings from Made for Adense sites? I was thinking about creating some but I didnt want to appear as not useful and I didn’t want google to penalize me. Also, I am not sure If I should have a long keyword domain name, or a shorter name but with a .info or .biz suffix. Thanks for your help and continue with your success, and let me know about any openings for your mentorship!

Bristolboy – Thanks. I’m sure your earnings will grow as well as time goes on.
Dan N – Yeah, it’s time to make a new goal! Two CB sales a day — here I come!
Anton – CB sales certainly add up a lot quicker than AdSense clicks. However, it can be harder to get a CB site to rank well, in my experience, as there is a lot of competition out there. When starting out, I would often go weeks without a CB sale, which can be discouraging, and I was glad to have those daily AdSense clicks coming trickling in. But yeah, I imagine that CB sales will make up the bulk of my $100/day earnings once I reach that mark.
John - Thanks – and I’ll let you know! Although I experimented with what many consider MFA techniques for a few of my sites in the xfactor “style” (using a very bland template, having a large, single block of Ads, only a few content pages), most of my sites were built to deliver useful content as well as displaying ads and products. In fact, I think that one of my earlier mistakes was that I didn’t know enough about finding high paying keywords and focused on research oriented keywords instead of buying keywords. As a result, I have a few sites with a lot of daily visitors (50-100 unique visitors), but that only earn a dollar or two a day. In the end, I think you are better off having a diverse assortment of sites in case you get a manual review. If you have some authority sites along with some “thinner” MFA type sites, I think you are much less likely to be deindexed or banned than if all your sites look the same. I do use .info domains, but I’ve never used .biz domains. I have got some of my .info’s to rank quite well, but I do think they take a little more work/backlinks to do so than .com’s, .net’s or .org’s – so if I have a choice, I generally go with those three first.

Carrie and Jennifer – Thanks! It’s a good thing I checked my spam filter this morning. For some reason it caught both of your comments. Jennifer, I just checked out your blog and good luck with your monthly goals!

Hi Michelle,
It’s awesome to see your progress. I know how important it is to diversify your income. I have yet to venture into clickbank, but I do want to soon. I was wondering if you could post on how you go about setting up your clickbank sites? It seems so difficult to make a sale to me and maybe that is why for now I’m focusing on Adsense and Amazon right now lol!

Hi Lisa,
That’s a good idea, as setting up a ClickBank site is a little different from AdSense or Amazon sites (mainly because you have to write a compelling sales page, but there are other parts to it as well). I’ll certainly put this on my “to-do” list, and hopefully get to it in the next week or so. I didn’t start with CB myself until I had been doing AdSense for about six months. Although I now wish I had started a little early with CB products, I do think AdSense and Amazon are good programs to start and “learn the ropes” of internet marketing with. Thanks for stopping by!

Michelle,
I am very impressed by your screenshots. its nice to see this trend is growing and we are now starting to see “real” people at work.
This whole guru crap of “how I make 10k” without any slaes reports/screenshots buffles me.
Am glad you are being honest about your earnings like many of us are.
